STREAMWOOD, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are increasing the reward for information to help solve a year-old murder at a gas station in northwest suburban Streamwood.

Streamwood police on Tuesday announced the reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who fatally stabbed Anandkumer Jaiswal on March 16, 2013, has been increased to $27,000.

"Immediately following the murder, someone out there saw something; someone out there heard something; and someone out there knows something. That someone needs to do the right thing and come forward," Chief Jim Keegan said at a press conference.

"We need callers right now to come forward with information. Too much time has elapsed since this brutal crime took place," Keegan said.

First responders called to Thornton's Gas Station at 2 North Barrington Road found Jaiswal bleeding heavily from several stab wounds to the chest about 4:30 a.m., according to police.

Jaiswal, of the 6700 block of Valley View Road in Hanover Park, died about an hour later at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Jaiswal had come to the United States to make a better life for himself and his family, and worked extra hours pursing his dreams of working with computers, police said.

Police said the killer appears to be a light-skinned male between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet, who was hooded, masked, and wore gloves and all black clothing.

Surveillance footage released Tuesday shows the "gait, mannerisms and movements of the killer," police said. They asked that viewers pay attention to his walk, build and body language.
