PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

NFL lineman Richie Incognito talked with FOX 10 on Thursday about reports that he damaged his $300,000 Ferrari. Incognito said that he was responsible for the damage, "Oh, that was just me venting."

And vent he did, so much so that he checked himself into a psychiatric ward just hours after our interview. Incongito's actions on Thursday explain why he checked himself into the ward. He was charming and nice but his thoughts were all over the place. He was eccentric, jumping up on his Ferrari, hugging myself and my photographer and giving me a kiss on the cheek. All of this a day after he took a bat to his Ferrari.

"When this all started it was so tough on me and my family you know because were very private people... that was just me venting, that was a piece of art... thank you so much for your time high five!," said Incongito.

Is this the portrait of a troubled man? FOX 10 took the video of the interview to a valley psychiatrist who says it could be a combination of mental illness, anger, and substance abuse.

"Very uncommon to be so angry to the point you would smash a car then a day later be giving a giddy interview where youre just feeling everything is silly and happy and you're being inappropriate. That could be indicative of a mixed episode or using some type of drug like stimulants cocaine meth," said Dr. Yasinski.

Dr. Michael Yasinski thinks there are several things going on in Richie Incongito's mind.

"There's some component of alcohol or drugs definitely. A mood component likely, a bipolar component, and likely a long standing psychological trauma of some sort that was never dealt with or never processed and now expresses itself in anger," said Dr. Yasinski.

Yasinski thinks football was likely Incongito's outlet and without it his symptoms are more obvious than ever. "He was really eccentric, he was jumping all over his Ferrari, he was smashing his Ferrari, he was being impulsive giving you high fives, treating you inappropriately. Giving you high fives, not being professional and being tangential in his thoughts meaning not clear if all of thuse sum up in what is a manic episode," he said.

"Words were said, things were done, but at the end of the day were all brothers and sisters and were here to lift each other up," said Incognito.
