Good Day New York Oscar party

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Good Day New York got a jump start on the Academy Awards show on Sunday with a soiree in celebration of the movie industry's biggest night.

From the swag bags, to the food, drinks and even an actual Oscar award, GDNY had it all on Friday.

On Sunday, March 2, Chef Daniel Boulud's flagship restaurant DANIEL will host the official East Coast screening party for The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

Head Bartender Arnaud Dissais created a signature Red Carpet Cocktail for the evening's event, and provided the recipe for those watching the Oscars at home.

The Red Carpet

Makes 1

1 oz. vodka

1 oz. bergamot juice

2 tsp. pear jam

1 tsp. ground galangal root

½ oz. simple syrup

1 egg white

Bitters, in a spray bottle

In a cocktail shaker without ice, combine first six ingredients and shake until emulsified. Add ice cubes and shake until chilled. Strain into a chilled martini glass and spritz cocktail with bitters.

The future is here when it comes to vehicles. The auto industry has packed nearly 1,000 automobiles into the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side for the 2014 NY Auto Show.   Among the 'must-sees' is a hydrogen-powered vehicle and a prototype with cameras that allow you to see the ground underneath as you drive over it.

“I was supposed to be dead before last Easter," said Valerie Harper about her diagnosis of cancer in the lining around her brain.  Harper's indomitable spirit and the support from fans of her character 'Rhoda' in the 1970s hit series 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' has kept her going. "It’s a tasty headline," said Harper about the magazine where the inaccurate report was made.
