WILLOW RIVER, Minn. (KMSP) -

A non-violent inmate who walked away from the minimum security prison in Willow River, Minn. on Tuesday was found Wednesday morning at a friend's home.

According to the Minnesota Department of Corrections, 51-year-old Richard James O'Reilly walked away from the Challenge Incarceration Program at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Wednesday morning, Pine County deputies and members of the DOC Fugitive Task Force went to a home on Military Road, where the owner confirmed O'Reilly had shown up but since left.

The homeowner was cooperative and a short time later, at 11:15 a.m., he called Pine County 911 to report O'Reilly had returned to the house. A perimeter was established and O'Reilly was convinced to surrender.

Richard O'Reilly is serving a sentence for counterfeiting and fraud.
