The suspect ordered the woman to drive him to various locations within Maplewood. He also told her he intended to rape her. The victim told police she talked with the man and, eventually, he asked to be dropped off near County Road C and White Bear Avenue.

NORTH ST. PAUL INCIDENT

The Maplewood carjacking happened about 15 minutes after North St. Paul police responded to an incident in which a woman fled her car after a man entered the passenger side in the parking lot of the North High School Polar Arena.

Victim: "He said, 'No, drive.'"

The suspect in this case was also wearing latex gloves and matched the same general physical description.

Attempted rapist gave chase

He reportedly told the woman he wanted to have sex with her and forced her to drive to a parking lot west of North High School and turn off the car. He then grabbed her but she was able to escape. The suspect then fled in her car.

"In spite of the fact that incidents of this nature are very rare, the actions of this armed suspect are obviously dangerous, making his identification and arrest a top priority," said Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell.
