This winter will be one of the coldest on record

It started as a joke in December, but now it is nearly a reality. The hashtag #worstwinterever has gotten a lot of play on Twitter over the past few months, but it looks like it holds more truth than we intended. This will be one of the worst winters ever… well at least if you don't like the cold. With the month of February ending on a frigid note as temperatures will sit 20 to 30 degrees below average, we have now locked in a bid for one of the top 10 coldest winters on record in the Twin Cities. These records date all the way back to 1870! If that's not bad enough, it's worse outside of the metro. St. Cloud will secure a top 5 spot by next weekend (granted, records are far shorter in the St. Cloud area dating back to the late 1940's) and Eau Claire, Wisconsin will likely reach its all-time coldest winter!

Below is a look at each cities temperatures over their years of records showing a graph of each winter's average temperature followed by a list of the top 10 coldest winters.
