A winter weather advisory remains in effect through 3pm Friday.
The Twin Cities woke up to a wet 7 to 11 inches of snow, with an official measurement of 9.9 inches at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Blowing and drifting snow with gusty winds are Friday's concerns as the sky clears to some sunshine and temperatures stay in the chilly teens with subzero wind chills.
Breezes relax Friday night into tomorrow, but we'll stay in the chilled teens with sun to patchy clouds on both Saturday and Sunday. Expect much colder single-digit highs with sun next week.

STATE PATROL: DON'T TRAVEL
The Minnesota State Patrol is advising no travel throughout much of the state due to snow-and-ice-covered roads.
"We're receiving reports from veteran troopers in several areas of the state of conditions that are as bad as they've seen in 25 years," said State Patrol Lt. Col. Matt Langer. "We need motorists to avoid traveling unless it's absolutely necessary. It is simply too dangerous right now and MnDOT needs room to clear the roads of snow and ice."
Gov. Mark Dayton has issued an emergency executive order to allow the National guard to assist stranded drivers.
Since 2 p.m. Thursday, the State Patrol responded to 404 crashes statewide, including 32 with injuries and one fatal crash. Troopers also responded to more than 1,300 spinouts.
School closings are widespread in much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. See the full list of school closings at http://bit.ly/1aM18uo
