DIY Valentine's Day Florals

Posted: Updated:

If you're looking to get flowers for your Valentine…wait! You can save yourself a ton of money by doing it yourself. Sunny Ravanbach the founder of White Lilac is here to show us how.

Everyone loves receiving flowers - especially for a special occasion!

Skip the overpriced arrangements and overplayed red roses and make your own arrangement to gift or display this Valentine's Day.

Sunny is going to share with you a few pro tips that we use at White Lilac to create custom floral displays for clients like Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari, and Chopard.

The Red Hot Classic

  • Timeless arrangement with a modern twist
  • The bouquet: a paveed arrangement of deep red roses - all florists will be stocking red roses, you can find them anywhere this time of year
  • Pro tip: Pave arrangement will make roses last longer!
  • The vase: a simple glass vase wrapped in French velvet
  • Pro tip: Use spray adhesive to wrap strips of fabric around vase; add a jeweled brooch for classic flair

The Hopeless Romantic

  • Ideal for the vintage-loving bohemian gal
  • The bouquet: garden roses and peonies in shades of blush
  • Pro tip: Peonies are in season, and much more affordable than roses at this time of year
  • The vase: a mercury footed bowl
  • Pro tip: I love collecting vases from local flea markets and vintage stores! You can repurpose them year-round

The Modernist

  • My personal style - simple and elegant
  • The twist: deconstruct the traditional bouquet, using single orchid blooms placed into repurposed wine bottles of varying heights
  • Pro tip: use metallic spray paint to cover old wine bottles and use as vases
  • The presentation: cluster the bottles onto a tray - you can find these at any Target or craft store
  • Pro tip: place votive candles alongside the arrangement to illuminate the metallic bottles

Born and raised in Liverpool, signed by an inexperienced agent named Brian Epstein, hustled into the studio with a genius producer named George Martin...and out of that session came a hit song called "Do You Want To Know A Secret." Now here's the twist…we're not talking about The Beatles.
