BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (KMSP) -

Three adults and one child escaped safely from a fire that broke out in the attic of a Brooklyn Center home.

The fire broke out early Wednesday morning on the 5000-block of Camden Avenue.

Fire crews said one of the adults woke up smelling smoke, went outside and saw fire coming from the attic, then alerted the other occupants.

As of 5 a.m., the fire was still smoldering and smoky. A fire hydrant was dug out in order to make it easier for firefighters to attack the flames.

Hennepin County fire investigators will be at the site later today.
