You don't have to break the bank to express your love. Here are some fun activities to celebrate Valentine's Day in style, for less.

Open Table.com has an extensive list of Twin Cities restaurants offering set Valentine's Day dinners, often at a discount.

Bar Abilene - $45 for appetizer, dinner and dessert for two, plus two glasses of Prosecco. http://www.icontact-archive.com/Tub_aP0QaQmh4UjzV2N7-dpB2vzovkRN?w=2

TOP TIP 1: Call the restaurant to confirm the deal, the food being offered, and that they received your reservation. Don't just rely on a website.

TOP TIP 2: If you don't see a deal being offered at the restaurant you want to visit, call them. They may have a Valentine's Day special that's not being widely advertised. Or, they may put something together, just for you and your sweetie.

This Thursday night at the Mall of America is Horror for the Holidays! They show holiday-themed horror movies for just $5 a ticket.

EX: Showing My Bloody Valentine 3D at 7:30 on the 13th. http://theatresmoa.com/event/events/

For the non-horror movie lovers, the Theatre's Starbar will be offering drink deals and sweet treats from 6 to 8 p.m. on Valentine's Eve. http://theatresmoa.com/event/valentines-day-starbar-party/

Carriage Rides in Stillwater, Friday and Saturday, from 4 to 8 PM. Check out the downtown area's Paint the Town Red celebration for deals from local vendors.

Minnesota Institute of Arts, free to the public every day, from 10 AM to 9 PM. Check out their Institute of Hearts and place a heart next your favorite work of art this Thursday and Friday. http://new.artsmia.org/event/institute-of-hearts/
