FOX 11 Overtime Exclusive: Bring Back the LA Rams

Posted: Updated:

It could be the pivotal moment LA NFL fans look back at; Stan Kroenke, the owner of the St. Louis Rams football team, bought enough land in Inglewood to build himself a stadium.  The Rams can leave their current stadium after the 2014-15 season because they want $700 million in upgrades, and it doesn't look like St. Louis is going to pony up the money.

The news  broke in the week before Super Bowl XLVIII and it energized the SoCal Rams booster club and the group "Bring Back the Rams, "  two groups that boast having thousands of followers.  We brought them in for a special edition of "Fox 11 Overtime" and also brought in one of the well-known former LA Rams, Vince Ferragamo, for a discussion on the NFL returning to LA.

About

The Los Angeles Rams were established in 1946 after moving from Cleveland, Ohio. At the time, the Rams were the first major professional sports team in California and Los Angeles.
Mission
Our mission is to bring back the Rams to their rightful home: Los Angeles.
Company Overview
The Los Angeles Rams were established in 1946 after moving from Cleveland, Ohio. At the time, the Rams were the first major professional sports team in California and Los Angeles: beating out the Dodgers by 12 years, the Lakers by 14 years, and the Angels by 15 years.

The Rams spent 49 years in the Southern California area, playing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum near Downtown L.A. (1946-1979) and Anaheim Stadium (now Angel Stadium) in Anaheim (1980-1994). During that time they appeared in three NFL championship games (1949, 1951, and 1955) and Super Bowl XIV, winning the 1951 NFL championship. Also, they appeared in the playoffs in 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1955, 1967, 1969, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, and 1989.

Along with the various postseason berths, the Los Angeles Rams have made history in other categories as well. They set various attendance records while playing at the LA Coliseum and held the record for attendance until 2005. Also, the LA Rams can be noted for breaking the color barrier in the NFL as well as being the first team to put logos on the side of their helmets.

The Rams clearly have more history in the Los Angeles area than either Cleveland or St. Louis and with the new state-of-the-art stadium set to be built in Downtown Los Angeles, it is the perfect time for the Rams to move home. The fans in LA are willing to support their first professional team and want them back! There is no doubt that the Rams would be overwhelmingly supported because the fans in the Los Angeles area are fiercely loyal to their teams. For example, the Angels and Dodgers are consistently one of the top 5 teams in the MLB in terms of attendance with the Lakers and even the Clippers doing well. Also, even in nontraditional sports in Southern California like hockey, the Ducks and the Kings do very well. Los Angeles deserves its football team back! Bring back the LOS ANGELES Rams!!!
