HOLLYWOOD (CNS) - An estimated 250 protesters took to Hollywood Boulevard today to rally and march against alleged mistreatment of homeless people by police, authorities said.
No arrests were reported as the protesters, who gathered about 4 p.m., marched between Argyle and Whitley avenues, a Los Angeles police spokesman said.
Ron Thomas -- father of Kelly Thomas, a homeless man killed during a 2011 encounter with former Fullerton police officers later acquitted of charges related to his death -- was among the protesters.
Witnesses said the rally caused traffic backups along Hollywood Boulevard, but police said there were no major disruptions.
The protest, spearheaded by homeless advocacy and support group Monday Night Mission, ended about 7 p.m.
