Little in the Way of Snow for Saturday

Unlike the last storm that rolled through the area a little over a week ago, this one will be pretty lackluster. In fact, it looks to have even less of an impact on the area than just 24 hours ago. This appears to be a pretty moisture starved storm with an area of light snow developing in parts of southern and central Minnesota sometime after midnight Friday night which could linger into the afternoon on Saturday. Check out the current look at 2 of the computer forecasting models…

Notice the top one is quite a bit further north than the other which makes it a little more difficult to forecast exactly how much the metro will get. In either case, no more than an inch falls in the city with an inch or maybe 2 across the I-90 corridor. This aligns beautifully with our in house forecasting model that you can see below.

Generally under an inch in the metro, and likely in most cases, a thick dusting is about it. Still looks good for an inch or two in southern Minnesota especially along the Iowa border. But we all know how little it takes to mess up the roads, so just take it a little slower on Saturday even though snow totals will be next to nothing.
