The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the deadly, officer-involved shooting of two people after a high-speed chase ended in a crash on Highway 212 in Eden Prairie, Minn.
A Minnesota State Patrol source also told Fox 9 the incident included a hostage situation, but a spokesperson wouldn't confirm or deny that detail at a Friday afternoon press conference.
At 7:30 a.m. Friday, the State Patrol, Carver County deputies and Chaska police responded to a complaint of a red Saab driving erratically at high speeds near Highway 212 and County Road 51.
Witnesses told Fox 9 they saw the car driving erratically earlier as far west as Glencoe.
The same car was reported to have fled the scene of a rear-end crash on Highway 212 and County Road 43. The other driver involved in that crash was taken to Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers located the red Saab heading eastbound on Highway 212 and a chase reached speeds of 90 mph.

Just before 8 a.m., the Saab crashed into the wall along Highway 212 near Dell Road in Eden Prairie.
The driver and the passenger got out of the car, but investigators haven't released details of the shooting that followed, other than to say "the circumstances of the shooting that followed remain under investigation."
The State Patrol confirmed one man and one woman were killed in the shooting. No officers were injured.
One state trooper, two Chaska police officers and one Carver County sheriff's deputy have been placed on standard administrative leave.
Highway 212 remained closed in both directions for investigation all-day Friday, but all lanes reopened just before 5 p.m.
