CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Pinterest, the popular photo sharing site, is hiring in Chicago. The announcement is creating excitement for job seekers.

"The most prominent career that you'll see people hiring for is back end engineers, software engineers, very computer based," said Rani Shah, an IIT Chemical Engineering student.

"I've seen Pinterest having really nice article and a lot of technology they are working on, especially the Java script and the front end it's really marvelous," said Shafi Ulla, an IIT Information, Technology and Management student.

Illinois Institute for Technology soon-to-be graduates Rhani Shah, Shafi Ulla and Nishanth Samala hope Pinterest recruiters are watching.

"I would consider working with Pinterest if given the opportunity or something like that,"said Ulla.

We're inside IIT's Idea Shop where students create and where Pinterest's bold move is the buzz on campus and beyond.

Pinterest plans to start expanding by filling a few dozen partner, sales and account manager jobs at its new offices in Chicago and New York.

"We see a lot of companies like Pinterest, like Grub Hub branching, coming out of Chicago or even hiring more in the area,"said Samala.

Creating jobs and fierce competition.

Computer Science major Nishanth Samala's strategy to stand out?

"So a lot of the times they'll see a lot of standardized resumes and if you can give them a little extra in terms of design, in terms of showing that you actually have some type of passion, related to the services that Pinterest provides, that's probably the best way to go about it," said Samala.

"Chicago has worked hard at creating this hub of investors, of great technology talent and entrepreneurs who are starting up scads of new companies that should drive the economy in years to come," said John Challenger.

Pinterests move is fueled by its mission to make money by selling promoted pins in user's feeds - similar to Facebook and Twitter. A company spokesperson emailed Fox 32's Tisha Lewis the goal is to get people on the ground to work with advertisers.

Employment expert John Challenger says the new tech boost could increase jobs in Chicago by as much as 25%.

"The economy is getting better and that benefits our new tech start-ups and the technology community," said Challenger.
