Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel will opt out of his contract for 2014 and test the free agency market, a source told NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport.
Cassel was set to earn $3.7 million in 2014, but had until Friday to make a decision.
A source told Rapoport the Vikings want Cassel to return, but he stands to make more money by entering free agency.
The Vikings finished 5-10-1 in 2013, with Cassel playing in all 5 wins and starting 4 of those games.
