BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (KMSP) -

A fire ripped through a Brooklyn Center, Minn. duplex early Wednesday morning -- one dog died as a result and investigators are looking into arson as a potential cause.

Four people made it out of the second-floor duplex, located at 7224 West River Road, after the fire began around 2:15 a.m. One dog was found dead inside and another is recovering from burns at the vet. A total of six occupants from the two residences made it out of the duplex safely.

Investigators have not determined an official cause of the fire. The Minnesota State Fire Marshall is investigating.
