CHASKA, Minn. (KMSP) -

A Carver County man who died after crashing his snowmobile in Chaska, Minn. on Tuesday morning has been identified as 26-year-old Dan Schlueter.

Schlueter was riding to work at Van-Tech in Savage on his snowmobile when he ran into a tree, Chaska Police Chief Scott Knight said.

He called a roommate and asked for help after crashing but did not reveal any more details over the phone, prompting a search crew. During the search, Chaska police officer Joe Carlson saw exhaust from the running snowmobile near Winkel Park near the Minnesota River in downtown Chaska.

He was on the onset of hypothermia and in a semiconscious state when crews found him, Knight said. He was brought to the Two Twelve Medical Center before being taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center. He passed away before 12 p.m.

His friend and roommate Mark Bartusch Jr. says Schlueter loved snowmobiling and dirt bikes. He married his high school sweetheart last April.
