PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

He was a promising star in the local boxing world, an Olympic hopeful. Alexis Urbina's hopes were cut short when he was murdered in his Phoenix home. His sister is now boxing in his honor and she hopes to make his dreams of Olympic gold come true.

Sulem Urbina sparred in the ring at a South Phoenix boxing gym when FOX 10 caught up with her, the same gym where her brother, 17 year old Alexis Urbina made a name for himself in the local boxing community.

He had a promising boxing career and life that came to an abrupt end. "I want his story to be known I'm not giving up so I am fighting for him," said Sulem.

Alexis was home alone on September 3rd when police say two men, Joseph Corrales and Robert Chavez, planned on burglarizing the home but encountered Alexis and beat him to death.

"Before he passed away I promised him we would keep going with our dreams and make our mother proud," said Sulem.

A dream that included boxing championships and just days ago she achieved that goal. Sulem won the amateur boxing title in her weight class in Mexico

"Now I am their national representative now I get to represent Mexico in every international competition," said Sulem.

And now she has her sights set on their ultimate goal, Olympic Gold in 2016. "I promised my brother that I'd make it there so I have train a hundred ten percent from now until 2016 every single day to qualify for the Olympics," said Sulem.

She is determined and she says her brother will be with her every step of the way. "I'm just following the dreams we both had I'm doing my best and he knows that I'm doing it," she said.

Sulem Urbina has other titles too in 2007 and 2009 she was named the Golden Gloves Champion in Arizona.
