Eden Prairie's Mike Grant wins national coach of the year award
Eden Prairie head football coach Mike Grant was awarded the Don Shula National High School Coach of the Year Award Friday morning at an award ceremony in New York City.
Grant, the son of legendary Vikings coach Bud Grant has led the Eden Prairie program to seven state championships since 2000 including three straight titles. The award comes with a $25,000 prize, $15,000 of which will go back into the Eden Prairie program.
Grant was one of three finalists for the award. The others were George Gilbert of Kirlin, Indiana, and Gary Joseph of Katy, Texas.
