The Minnesota Department of Public Safety said 52 travelers were stranded overnight at the Olivia Armory and 69 at the Albert Lea Armory amid bone-chilling cold sweeping Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is continuing to monitor the weather and road conditions and will open more shelters as necessary.

FORECAST: A Wind Chill Warning will remain in effect for the greater metro through noon on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Gov. Mark Dayton issued an executive order to provide help for search and rescue efforts as well as the sheltering of stranded motorists. Under the order, all costs will be defrayed.
