Super Bowl tickets cost less than usual

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - There are plenty of fans who would love to be at the biggest game in the world next weekend, snow or shine.  But after a week of freezing weather, fans might opt to watch somewhere warm...like their living rooms.

Make no mistake; a ticket to Super Bowl 48 will still cost you a lot of cash, but if you’re prepared to shell out big bucks anyway, you might be pleasantly surprised.

The get-in price for tickets on the secondary market has dropped substantially this week, and since Saturday morning, they've dropped $300 to just above $1,500 a pop.

Steve Rosner, co-founder 16W Marketing says this Super Bowl may be easier as far as pricing to get into the game.

Rosner has been at the last 27 Super Bowls but plans to watch this one from home and predicts other fans in the tristate region may do the same.

He says tickets are less expensive than last year for two reasons:

1. Teams from far away aren’t garnering much interest from the local fans.

2. People don't want to pay 2-3 times face value to sit outside and freeze.

The NFL isn't sweating it though. A spokesperson said the secondary ticket market always fluctuates.  The league says the prices are not an indication of demand, but of people trying to make some serious cash.
