SHAKOPEE, Minn. (KMSP) -

A body found in the Minnesota River on Friday is believed to be missing Shakopee man Eric Lindquist, Shakopee police said in a statement.

Bruce Lindquist believes his son walked from the townhome they share in Shakopee to the river Tuesday evening, taking his auger and fishing gear to Veterans Memorial Park a few blocks away.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office confirmed Saturday that Lindquist died as a result of accidental drowning and hypothermia.

Thursday afternoon, Lindquist was hoping that no sign of his son was a good sign.

"You have to assume the worst and hope for the best," he said.

A State Patrol helicopter scoured the area Wednesday and rescue crews used a hovercraft and divers to search the Minnesota River on Thursday.
