Intruders break into Atlanta home, hold couple at gunpoint

ATLANTA -

An Atlanta man says robbers tried to stick a gun down his throat and held a gun to his girlfriend's head.

Dahshi Marshall said that three men forced their way into his DeKalb Avenue home early Thursday.

Marshall tried to warn his fiancé, but couldn't hold the intruders off for long.

"They told me to get down on my knees and two of them took off for the guest room, I assume to look for jewelry," Marshall said.

Dahshi said one man yelled at him to open his mouth so he could put the barrel of his gun inside.

"I was like, ‘Please sir, you don't want to do this,'" said Marshall. "After a while of that, he never got the gun in my mouth, thank God"

Marshall said he held his head down and never got a good look at any of the intruders. But said one of them was wearing army fatigues.

His fiancé hid in the bathroom, but the robbers busted in and held her at gunpoint too. Then suddenly they told them to stay put and took off.

Dahshi and his fiancé dashed upstairs to the roof for safety. Neither of them saw a getaway car.

In total, the crooks took off with a TV, two iPads, two laptops, bank cards and jewelry. Marshall said he's thankful no one got hurt.

Atlanta City Councilman Kwanzaa Hall said there's been a rash of thefts in the nearby Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park neighborhoods. Hall says he's working with police to boost more patrols and warn neighbors to keep an eye out.
