Another Frigid Day

Another January day and another Arctic plunge… temperatures plummeted to the teens and 20's below zero Thursday morning with wind chills even colder, approaching 50 below in some spots. Just how cold did it get though? Here is the short list for morning lows in the metro…

The coldest location was Princeton Thursday morning with a -27, but even much of the metro was flirting with that 20 below mark. This of course didn't factor in the wind chills which were 35 to 50 below zero statewide with many metro locations hovering in the 40 below zero range for several hours. With the subzero readings Thursday, we are now above average when it comes to the total number of below zero days through the winter season. The last 4 years were pretty much duds when it came to winter so now that we are finally getting a reasonably cold one, it seems a little more ridiculous. Stay warm!!
