Commissioners pledge fix to leaky offices in Fulton County

Posted: Updated:
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -

Lawmakers say unfit conditions inside a Fulton County building will be fixed.

As FOX 5 reported on Tuesday, tests confirmed that mold was found inside a purchasing department office that has repeatedly flooded.

Fulton County commissioners apologized to their employees on Wednesday; many said they were not aware of the unpleasant and unfit offices. One commissioner labeled the environment third-world conditions.

Last fall, building manager's request for funds to fix the problem was rejected by the commission. Liz Hausmann was the only commissioner to vote for the $1 million request.

Fulton County Commissioner Robb Pitts called the working conditions "disgusting."

The county manager assured the commission that a short-term fix is underway and that they will soon be asked for major capital funding to fix leaks all over the government complex.
