Pedestrian fatally struck on Downtown Connector

ATLANTA -

A pedestrian was fatally struck on the Downtown Connector Wednesday afternoon, Georgia Department of Transportation officials said.

The accident took place on I-75/85 southbound at the Williams Street exit around 12:30 p.m. GDOT officials said that a pedestrian crossing several lanes near exit 249A was first struck by a Hyundai, causing him to then enter the path of a Lincoln Towncar traveling in another lane.

Four of six lanes were blocked, and SKYFOX 5 showed traffic backed up. Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes.
