Woman fights back against carjacker in Snellville

Posted: Updated:
SNELLVILLE, Ga. -

A Snellville woman fought back when a man carjacked her outside of her home.

The attack happened Thursday night at the Kings Gate Apartments off of Lenora Road. The woman was walking to her mailbox when a man charged at her and grabbed her car keys.

Snellville Police Detective Orlando Concepcion said the woman was punched in the face, but she fought back. In the end, she gave up the keys after the man bit her hand.

Two days later, investigators said they found the victim's car in DeKalb County. Police said that 18-year-old Leonte Banks led authorities on a brief chase before he was arrested on traffic charges in that county. Banks is also wanted in Clarkston on two counts of robbery and two counts of burglary.

Snellville authorities said they'll likely file charges against Banks in connection with the carjacking.
