Cold weather didn't keep thousands of fans in the "State of Hockey" away from the Hockey City Classic at the TCF Bank Stadium on Friday night.
The two-time national champion Gopher women's hockey team defeated MSU-Mankato 4-0, and the men's team faced off against their Big Ten rival Ohio State and skated away with a 1-0 victory.
It was the first outdoor Gopher hockey game in Minnesota in more than 80 years and drew an enormous crowd to boot -- 45,021 hockey fans, the Gophers confirmed.
With temperatures in the single digits, the name of the game was keeping warm -- fans donning plenty of layers and all sorts of creative outerwear. For some, she question wasn't just "what are you were wearing," but rather, "what animal?"
