Fulton County teacher collapses amidst student brawl

EAST POINT, Ga. -

A Fulton County teacher reportedly suffered a heart attack while reacting to a fight between students at Tri-Cities High School. The teacher was not directly injured as a result of the fighting students, authorities say.

Staff performed CPR on the teacher as medical aide was called. In a statement, school officials noted: "The disruption drew the attention of surrounding students and teachers. A teacher who had responded to the disruption had an apparent heart attack and collapsed. Details are still developing, but it does not appear that he was hit or touched, etc. by anyone involved in the fight nor was he involved in breaking it up."

The incident happened just after school began Friday morning. School leaders have not released the name or condition of the educator. Details of the incident are developing.

Tri-Cities High School is located in East Point.
