Former Coach Sues Little League Player

Posted: Updated:

A California little league coach is suing one of his former players for half a million dollars, but the teen's parents are calling foul play on the coach saying they are appalled by his accusation against their son. FOX'S Luana Munoz has the story.

Former Little League Coach Doctor Allan Beck scoots around his office in a chair after having surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon, an injury he says was caused by a former 14-year-old player.

Beck says the injury cost him thousands of dollars which is why he filed a suit against the teen, his parents Joe and Raegan Paris and Lakeside Little League .

"I couldn't register right at that second so I turned around and looked and there was a helmet laying on the ground and this young man that hit me was looking at me stunned," Beck said.

Though Beck never saw who threw the helmet, Joe and Raegan Paris were stunned when they realized he was suing for half a million dollars.

Joe Paris says he's appalled. "I almost thought it was a joke at first and shortly thereafter I realized that we need to take care of it," he said.

It started in April after Paris's son scored the winning run on Granite Bay Baseball Field and threw his helmet in victory.

Although the claim was for half a million dollars, Beck says he only wanted about 20 grand enough to cover his out of pocket expenses.

"I feel like a victim because basically I tried to work this out with the parents. The parents never acknowledged my injury," Beck said.

6 months after the incident, Raegan says Beck sent her an email. It was the first time she says she learned of his injury.

"He asked me for my homeowner's insurance information and he wanted to call them directly so that he could get money to take care of any medical bills he had," Raegan said.

Along with that email a note from beck's doctor which also stated he had a pre-existing condition in the same area.
