1. Use a hanging shoe rack to store cleaning supplies (and other handy items) in reach for you… and not the kids. They sell them at Target for $8.

2. Use soda tabs to double your closet space, or to create suit hangers

PRO TIP: You can put together your outfits for a week, and then hang them up neatly.

3. Attach Velcro to the side of your coffee table (or underneath) and your remotes to create instant, out of the way storage. Bonus – you'll never lose your remotes again! Velcro costs less than $5 a packet at Joann Fabrics and Crafts.

You can use this Velcro tip for any table or cabinet in your house.

4. In the bathroom, attach a magnet strip to the wall or inside a cabinet, and hang all your small metal implements from it – tweezers, eyelash curlers, nail scissors, bobby pins. Long rolls of adhesive-backed magnets cost $6 at Joann Fabrics and Crafts.

5. Reuse mint tins to store small items, such as: spare buttons, nails, screws, paper clips, batteries.

PRO TIP: Pack a tin with needle, thread and small scissors to make a traveling sewing kit.

6. Hang lovely vintage door pulls/handles to hang easy-to-lose items, like your keys and reading glasses. You can even use them in the bathroom to hang hand towels.

You can find vintage-looking handles and pulls for under $15 at Target.

7. Use a cork board to display your jewelry. If you get it out of the jewelry box and in front of your face, you are more likely to wear what you have, instead of buying new stuff.

Corkboards can be purchased for less at office supply stores, or even found at thrift stores. You can paint them to match your bedroom, or you can cover the cork with fabric to make it prettier.
