A Tonopah man was found dead inside his home and his son was accused of killing him with a shotgun back in January 2012.

At the time, Tyler McQuade was booked into jail on one count of first-degree murder. Deputies say he shot his father, Sean McQuade, at least three times.

Sean's brothers went to his home near 339th Avenue and Interstate 10 to meet with a realtor. That's when they discovered his body.

Court records show the father and son rarely talked, and that Tyler made threats against family members in the past.

Cell phone records indicate that Tyler and Sean talked on the phone prior to the shooting and Sean told a friend he was going to meet with Tyler at his home, telling that friend he didn't know what Tyler wanted and "didn't feel good about it."

Deputies later arrested Tyler McQuade at his home in Gilbert.  They said he denied speaking to his father on and did not show any emotion about the death of his father, according to detectives.

McQuade was held on a $500,000 bond.

On January 14, 2014, the 25-year-old was found guilty on second-degree murder charges.  Sentencing is slated for February 11.  According to Deputy Joaquin Enriquez of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, McQuade faces several years in prison for the shooting death that occurred at this father's home.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio says it was excellent detective work on behalf on his deputies that solved the case so
quickly.
