An armed robber bound the hands of two Radio Shack employees in Highland Park before making off with backpacks full of electronics on Sunday afternoon, according to St. Paul police.
The robbery happened at about 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of Ford Parkway, a neighborhood known for its upscale shops and restaurants.
Investigators say the thief escaped with thousands of dollars in merchandise, and KC O'Brien told Fox 9 News he was working at Von Hanson's Meats when an employee from the RadioShack, located a few doors down, came running in and asked to use the phone.
"I was in the back and he was obviously upset," O'Brien recalled.
Yet, it wasn't until later that O'Brien learned a man with a gun had entered the store and told employees to fill 3 backpacks with cell phones and other electronics before using zip-ties to bind their hands and fleeing on foot. No customers were in the store at the time.
Police released photos of the suspect captured on surveillance cameras inside the store, and they hope the man with a unique neck tattoo will be easy to recognize. Anyone with information is urged to call St. Paul police at 651-266-5650.
