CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

The search for a woman who fell into the Chicago River early Monday in the Streeterville neighborhood was suspended Tuesday afternoon because of inclement weather conditions.

The 21-year-old woman has been missing since she fell into the water along with two friends early Monday.

One of the friends, 26-year-old Ken Hoang, climbed over a fence in the 400 block of East Water Street to reach for his phone after he dropped it into the river, authorities said.

The 21-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man both fell in the river trying to help Hoang, authorities said.

Hoang, of St. Paul, Minn., was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 3:14 a.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

An autopsy conducted Tuesday found Hoang drowned, and listed alcohol toxicity as a secondary factor, the medical examiner's office said. His death was ruled an accident.

The two men were pulled from the river a few minutes after midnight, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The other man, 23, was in fair condition at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital.

The search for the woman resumed early Tuesday, but was suspended about 12:30 p.m. because of weather conditions, according to police. It has not yet been determined when the search will resume.

A police official at the scene said there was zero visibility in the water during search efforts Monday.
