A Metro Transit light rail train was halted for an investigation of a crash involving a pedestrian near 42nd and Hiawatha on Sunday night.
According to officials, the crash happened at about 6 p.m. Investigators said the gate was lowered at the time, and the train stopped a short distance after.
Police said the man was walking alone when he was hit, and his identity has not been released. The operator, who has not been publicly identified, will be tested for drugs and alcohol per standard protocol.
Replacement buses ran until 7:50 p.m. Sunday. The normal schedule has since resumed.
The death marks the second at the intersection that involves a light rail train. The first involved a car in September of 2004.
