As the saying goes one mans trash is another mans treasure. This weekend the Toy Scout is in town paying cash for antique toys.
"I can tell this is fragile stuff because you have them all wrapped up" said Joel Magee.
FOX 10 met with the so-called "Toy Scout", Joel Magee, who was making an offer to buy some vintage Disney Toys, glass figurines Robin Colangelo says her father bought back in 1969. Colangelo has been keeping them in her china cabinet.
"My mom gave me some of these things years ago... a couple sentimental pieces a hummel, her Shirley Temple dolls that she collected, and a snow white with the seven dwarfs" said Colangelo.
This weekend toy enthusiasts will gather to sell their valuable collectibles, pieces coveted by those who understand the value of vintage Barbie Dolls, GI Joe action figures, Pez dispensers, and of course Matchbox cars.
"What we do is clean them up, we restore them, and we get them back to collectors" said Magee.
Michael Tansey another toy seller said "we did a little research, we kind of know what to expect, and if they're doing stuff in mint condition and we can restore these things they are probably worth a lot."
Star Wars are items that are not sellers right now according to our expert but any toy made in the 1980's or older will bring in a pretty penny.
"We have collectors that want them" said Magee.
The "Toy Scout" offers cash for the toys. "You can sell any or all of those if you want" Magee told Colangelo.
Colangelo decided to sell her toys, she made a little over a hundred dollars. But there's no limit as to what someone could pay for the right toy.
