A rural Montgomery, Minn. teenager was arrested without incident Tuesday for the deadly shooting of his father late Monday night.
According to the Le Sueur County sheriff's office, 47-year-old Richard Nelson was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head at the family's home on Le Sueur Avenue at about 11 p.m. Monday. Police said the call came from the killer.
Nelson's son, 18-year-old Jonas David Nelson talked about the murder with police. It turned out to be enough of a confession for him to be taken into custody and booked into Le Sueur County jail with homicide charges pending. Police have not released any details about a motive.
According to Jonas Nelson's Facebook page, his parents divorced when he was 14, and he went to live with his maternal grandparents. But a few months ago, he moved back in with his father. He describes himself in his profile as "Currently unemployed and loving it." The rest of the profile is tantamount to a typical teenager, goofy selfies, family photos and a photo of him hunting.
Police do not believe there are any other suspects in the murder. More information is expected to be released Wednesday.
