Olmsted County sheriff's officials confirmed that authorities are investigating the deaths of two teens in New Haven Township.
On Monday afternoon, police responded to a reported shooting in the 6900 block of 100th Street NW, about 4 miles south of Pine Island and 2 miles west of U.S. 52.
Police found two shooting victims in the garage but did not release any details about the owner of the residence. An 18-year-old woman from northwest Rochester was found dead and a 19-year-old man from Pine Island was brought to the Mayo Clinic where he later died. Both are college students and friends, but were not in a relationship, sheriff's officials said.
Police recovered a handgun from the scene.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has been called in to assist with the investigation. More information about the incident is expected to be released on Wednesday.
