St. Paul firefighters were forced to brave the bitter cold and douse a house fire near Como Avenue early Sunday morning.
St. Paul Fire District Chief Dino Guerin confirmed the fire started around 6 a.m. at a house near Como Avenue and Topping Street. The homeowners were on vacation at the time of the fire but the house-sitter was at home and escaped safely. The cold weather made fighting the flames a challenge, Guerin said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
