Dr. Chris offers five cold weather safety tips as Minnesotans wait for Sunday night into Monday morning to bring some of the coldest temperatures in the state in nearly two decades.1. KNOW YOUR LIMITSFrostbite can occur with in 4 to 5 minutes of exposure.2. KNOW THE RISK AREASFrostbite typically appears in areas farthest away from the bulk of your body -- ears, nose, fingers, toes.3. PLAN AHEADStock hats, gloves, jackets, blankets and keep your cell phone on you in your car in case you get stuck.4. TELL A FRIENDIf you have to brave the cold, tell someone where you're going so they can check in and ensure you're safe.5. KNOW WHEN TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTIONIf you see black on any areas of your body after exposure to the cold, get to a hospital.
