SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say 25-year-old Brandon Glenn shot and killed the woman who called him her husband on New Year's day.

Milena Moore and Glenn got into an argument while Glenn's mother,  45-year-old Bettye Adams stood nearby. Investigators say when Moore went to leave, Glenn shot her.

Sources say Adams put Milena's body in her car and drove off. She was reportedly headed to a hospital but then panicked, fearing police could blame her for the crime and instead drove home.

Detroit police later found the 23-year-old Moore behind the wheel of the car in her mother-in-law's driveway.

Moore's family says she was trapped in a violent relationship. Now Milena's family says they hope this will serve as a warning for others trapped in relationships.

Milena's cousin has a message for Glenn's mother. "You're just as guilty because a mother's supposed to teach their child something different. She never taught him anything."

Both Adams and Glenn are expected to be arraigned Saturday.
