3 arrested in knockout assault, robbery of U of M student
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
University of Minnesota police on Friday announced that all three suspects in the Nov. 20 robbery and assault of a student near campus have been arrested.
According to the crime alert, the student was walking near the intersection of Essex Street SE and Ontario Street SE around 9 p.m. that evening when he was punched in the face and knocked unconscious.
The student had his backpack, laptop and wallet stolen.
On Thursday, Jan. 2, police arrested the second of three robbery suspects in north Minneapolis. During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being a part of the robbery.
Early Friday morning, Jan. 3, police arrested the third suspect in the parking lot of a Bloomington hotel. Both suspects were booked in jail for robbery.
The first suspect was arrested by UMPD on Dec. 18.
ROBBERY IN-PROGRESS THWARTED
UMPD also announced its robbery suppression detail stopped an in-progress robbery of a young man shortly after 2 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 1 just north of Dinkytown. Two suspects were arrested in that case.
