Fire tore through the clubhouse building at the Horse & Hunt Club in Prior Lake, Minn., early Tuesday morning, destroying plans for a New Year's Eve celebration in the process.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but the owners hope to find out soon. One of the main attractions of the business was the clubhouse restaurant and bar with the banquet hall, known as Trigger's Saloon and Supper Club -- but that hosting area is now reduced to rubble.
SKYFOX9 caught footage of the flames from above the clubhouse, located at 3300 220th St. E, after the fire was reported just after 6 a.m. By the time firefighters arrived, the clubhouse was fully engulfed.
No one was injured, but crews struggled to extinguish the flames on what was a brutally cold and windy day. In the end, the building was gutted. With the structure deemed a total loss, the owners canceled the big New Year's Eve bash they had planned there.
Despite the devastating loss, the owners have already pledged to rebuild -- and quickly.
"This operation is 600 acres, and out on the grounds is where the real heart of the Horse & Hunt Club is," Bill Urseth said. "What it is is a building, and it was important -- but it's a building we can rebuild; a place we can replace. The core of the business is the outdoor recreation, and that continues."
The Minnesota State Pheasant Championship hunting competition will still be held at the location this weekend as scheduled.
Many weddings had been booked at the banquet hall, but owners insist they will have a new building built in time for wedding season so they can honor all the reservations they have already set for this summer.
