Police warn of violent purse robberies in Lakeview neighborhood

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Chicago Police have issued an alert warning of several recent purse robberies during the early morning hours in the Lakeview neighborhood.

A man and woman approach female victims from behind on a sidewalk or in an alley, shove them forcefully to the ground, and rob them of their purses, according to the community alert from Area North detectives.

The robberies happened about 5:30 a.m. Dec. 19 in the 800 block of West Oakdale Avenue, 7:10 a.m. Dec. 19 in the 500 block of West Briar Place, and 7:25 a.m. Dec. 20 in the 3500 block of North Southport Avenue, police said.

The suspects are described as a black man between 20-25 years old and a black woman also between 20-25 years old. Their vehicle is described as a small white four-door Ford with partial plate number X12 or X21.
