Police Seek Man In Connection With Fishtown Robberies

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Police are trying to track down a robbery suspect who they say twice used a bag in the shape of a gun at businesses in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia.

Two incidents were caught on video in the wee hours of the morning after Christmas.

The first was at 2:16 a.m. Thursday at the CVS Pharmacy located at 2638 East Cumberland Street. Police said the man was in the store for several minutes before bringing a candy bar to the checkout area. When the employee went to ring him out, turned around and looked back, the man had a plastic bag in the shape of a gun pointed at her demanding money.

When the employee yelled for the store manager, the suspect ran from the store without taking any money, police said. He was last seen north on Aramingo Avenue.

The second incident was at 4 a.m. at the Dunkin Donuts located at 717 East Girard Avenue. The man asked for a donut, and when it was handed to him he pulled a bag from his waist area and held it as if he had a gun inside and demanded money.

The employee opened the register, gave the man an undetermined amount of money, and he walked out of the store, leaving in an unknown direction.

In both cases case, the man was described as being white, near the age of 40, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 160lbs, with a light complexion, mustache with a light beard and a thin build. He was wearing a gray hooded jacket, a black shirt, blue jeans, a black knit hat and white sneakers.

If you see this suspect do not approach him, police say to contact 9-1-1 immediately. To submit a tip, call 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text to PPD TIP (773847).

FOX 29's Leigh Scheps spoke with an assistant manager at the Dunkin Donuts and had more details in the above video report Friday night from outside Philadelphia Police Headquarters.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
