Metrodome Memory: The roof comes down

Posted: Updated:

After the Twin Cities picked up over 17 inches of snow between December 9th and 10th causing the Dome's roof to collapse due to heavy snow accumulation. Snow removal workers were clearing snow from the roof during the overnight hours, but were called down due to safety concerns.

The weight of the snow caused damage in the Teflon roof panels early Sunday morning and the scheduled game between the Vikings and the New York Giants was moved to Detroit and was played on Monday night. The Giants had been stuck in Kansas City after their flight was diverted there with the Twin Cities airport closed due to the storm.
