Man Hears Letter From Wife Who Passed Away 2 Years Ago

Posted: Updated:

A family in Iowa receives a Christmas surprise they will never forget.

A man heard from his wife who passed away from ovarian cancer two years ago!

Brenda Schmidtz was diagnosed with stage-four ovarian cancer. One month before she died, she wrote a letter to her husband and gave it to a friend.

She asked the friend to send it to a local radio station in Des Moines when her husband was ready to move on.

"What a great husband and father he is," the letter said as it was read on Star 102.5-FM. "I know all of this is extremely hard on him. He is the one making the best decisions from here on out for my family and ultimately finding a caring, compassionate, loving woman, in time, to help raise the boys."

Brenda and her husband had four sons. The youngest was only 2 when his mother died.

Brenda realized this new woman would have some pretty big shoes to fill. So, she asked the radio station to grant three wishes:

  1. To send her family on a magical vacation;
  2. To give the new wife a day at the spa;
  3. And to treat the doctors and nurses at the hospital she received her treatment at.

"It's not surprising 'cause she's, the last year and a half, she's – so many signs that she's there," said her husband, David.

The radio station is granting all three wishes, including a Disney vacation for David, his new wife, and their combined six children!
