Arrest, confession in armed porch robbery near U of M
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
University of Minnesota police made an arrest Wednesday in the Nov. 20 armed robbery on the porch of a home just off-campus.
Investigators executed a search warrant at an address just east of campus, seizing important evidence and arresting a suspect who later confessed to using the victim's stolen credit cards.
According to the crime alert, the man, who is not affiliated with the University, was robbed at gunpoint as he stood on the porch of his home near the intersection of 11th Avenue SE and 8th Street SE after he returned from work.
Police said the suspect approached the victim and asked to use his cell phone. When the victim refused, the suspect pointed a silver handgun and robbed the man of his wallet, cell phone, and laptop before fleeing on foot.
