BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Officials say a Bridgeport student faces expulsion after he allegedly falsely told police gunshots were filling a classroom.
Police confirmed to the Connecticut Post that the call made from a cell phone around 2 p.m. Thursday was a hoax and no students were injured. They said the boy is a student at Blackham School, which serves pre-kindergarten through grade 8, but would not release his identity because of his age.
The call prompted more than two dozen officers rushing to protect the school's students and the school was placed on lockdown.
Investigators were trying to determine what criminal charges, if any, he will face.
Bridgeport Schools Superintendent Paul G. Vallas says the student will not be returning to Blackham.
